A Tribute to Happy
I brought you home in 6 Jun 1998 when you were 2 mths old. You were an active and happy bubbly puppy. You brought happiness, joy and laughter to my family. My sister who has fear in dog, conquered her fear. You are the first dog she ever touched. Everyone adores you.
As times goes by, you grew to be a handsome and gorgeous sturdy dog despite you do not have the full collar and long fur coat. Many fear you by the looks of your size. You never failed to be the centre of attraction when you are out. Non-dog lovers, kids and even Malays will take a look at you and comment. The kids will call you “lang gou” or “hu li gou”. Some called you Lassie. Even some dog owners thought you were a Collie!
Whenever I felt sad, you will console me. When I’m sick, you are always besides me. You slept with me on my bed. You will lick my face to wake me up over the weekends to bring you out. But you refused to wake me during the weekdays when Ah Ma tells you to. You were assigned to wake my lazy brother out from the bed as no one else can wake him up.
I never leave you at petshop even I have to go away. I will ensure someone is at home to look after you when I’m away. I always call home to check on you. I cannot enjoy my trip without thinking of you.
I brought you along to this new family when I get wedded in 2002. You took quite some time to adapt to this new environment. No more sleeping with me on my bed and going into the bedrooms. After sometime, you get used to the boundary. You understand and learn fast. Only when you are too excited, you will attempt to go into the room just to get closer to us.
We make lots of dog friends within these neighbourhood. Every night we will gather downstairs. Sometimes we have more than 20 dogs downstairs. The people around recognize you and asked why no more gathering downstairs.
Only when Summer comes along, we neglected you. However, daddy still put on an effort to walk you downstairs if weather permits. We bring you both out together to the park for walk and play sand. Summer and you are always fighting for attention. Two of you will push each other to come close us to be sayang. Summer loves playing ball with you. She has to learn throwing the ball over hand for you to fetch.
You are always strong and healthy. You are 8 years old and still behave like a puppy. I was hoping you can live to at least 10 over years. Never did I expect you leave us so soon. You will be forever in our heart. We will remember you forever. We love you so much to see you go….

Very sad to hear of Happy’s passing… What matters is that both of you had fully cherished one another and had spent many meaningful, happy and wonderful moments together. No regrets as he had lived a happy and fulfilled life. Take care.
